It was another successful Mug Club Bingo night on Wednesday. Which is a good thing since it was probably Tom's (blue shirt on right) last one for a good long while. He's prepping to deploy back to Iraq for his third deployment and second tour in Iraq.I won two Bingo's and so did Tom. Or did Beth win one of theirs? Dale was gifted a mug of his very own. (Thx T & B!) The new Bingo caller was a vast improvement over the guy who couldn't articulate the difference between two digit numbers beginning with thirty and forty. Suzie was great. At least Beth looks good with a twinkle in her eyes in our celebration photo.
We will miss Tom a lot. Unfortunately we are used to him being gone. It doesn't make it any easier to say good bye.
The picture below is Tom tending the bonfire on New Year's Eve - one of his favorite tasks in our yard. We look forward to welcoming him home in 2010 with a big bonfire! I offer the following prayer for him and all of the soldiers serving in far away places.
Almighty God, we commend your gracious care and keeping all the men and women
of our armed forces at home and abroad.
Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace;
strengthen them in their trials and temptations;
give them courage to face the perils which beset them;
and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

My prayer goes out to Tom and Beth. I cannot believe the amount of sacrifice we expect out of our citizens. I am awed by their service to their country!
